Margaret McCoy Allen Moyse, age 96, of Gulfport, passed away on September 21, 2016.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Robert G. Turner, Cleve Allen, Jr., Ferd L. Moyse, and her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Owen S. McCoy, and a brother, Owen McCoy, Jr.
Survivors include her children, Eustace Andrew ""Drew"" (Nancy) Allen, II, and Christie Allen (Bryan) Batson, 5 grandchildren, Wesley Watkins (Shanna) Batson, Lissa Batson (Miller) Gunn, Grace Allen (Joey) Gauci, Andrew Mattison (Carmen) Allen, Darby James Allen, 5 great-grandchildren, Sophia and Thomas Batson, Finch and Rowe Gunn, and Amelia Allen
Mrs. Moyse was a graduate of Greenville High School and the University of Mississippi where she received a Bachelor of Arts Degree and was a president of Chi Omega. She was a charter member of Westminster Presbyterian Church and was active on numerous committees and boards. She along with her late husband, Cleve, was instrumental in starting Gulfport's only soup kitchen, Feed My Sheep. After Cleve's passing, she served as treasurer until 2005. She was a charter member of Four Seasons Garden Club and served on many local, state, and national committees. She served as president of the Garden Clubs of Mississippi from 1973 - 1975. During this time, the Avenue of Magnolias was established giving each interstate entrance and exit a line of Magnolia trees. She was instrumental in establishing tree ordinances that protect live oaks today.
Throughout her life, Mrs. Moyse will probably be remembered as a person who made a difference in the lives of those less fortunate and the beauty of the world we enjoy today.
A private graveside service was held in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens.
A memorial service will be held at 2 pm on Saturday, September 24, 2016 at Westminster Presbyterian Church. A reception will be held following the memorial service.
The family would like to thank her special caregivers, Barbara Perkins, Betty Harris, and Diane Newman.
