LaRue Mae Lott

LaRue Mae Lott passed away on Sunday, August 31, 2014, surrounded by her loving family.
LaRue was born December 6, 1922, in Salt Lake City, UT. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence E. Lott, parents, Edith Spendlove and Clifford Andersen, her sister, Aurla Mitchell, and two brothers, Clifford Andersen and Clinton Martineau.
She is survived by her sister, Loma Fife of Salt Lake City, UT; her daughter, Clarene Baumgartel (Richard) of Sarasota, FL, Bruce Lott (Brenda) of Marietta, GA, and Mike Lott (Pam) of Pass Christian, her grandchildren, Hans Baumgartel (Christy), Sarasota, Sheri Christine (Bobby) Evans, GA, Michele Beeson (Richard), Pass Christian, Jared Lott (Amy), Powder Springs, GA, and Michael Lott (Casey), Saucier, and 9 great-grandchildren.
LaRue met and married her husband Clarence Lott in Honolulu, HI where he was stationed at Barber's Point Naval Air Station. After retiring from the Navy, the Lott family settled in Gulfport. She had worked at Brumfield's Department Store, Associates Finance, Coast Federal Savings and Loan and retired from Magnolia Federal.
An avid golfer, LaRue loved playing golf with her cronies at both Sunkist Country Club and Pass Christian Isles Golf Club. After the onset of Macular Degeneration in 1996, LaRue moved to Florida where she lived for 9 years. While there she attended bead classes for the blind where she mastered the art of bead crafts of all kinds.
Missing her Gulf Coast home and family, she returned to Long Beach in 2008 where she was a regular at the Senior Citizens Center greeting each person with a smile and a hug. Despite her vision impairment, she enjoyed ceramic classes, painting classes, and playing games, especially checkers. LaRue was once featured on WLOX TV for her painting ability.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, September 3, 2014, from 10 - 11 am at the RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 19130 Commission Road, Long Beach. The funeral service will be at 11 am in the funeral home chapel. Burial will be in Evergreen Gardens Cemetery.
