Hubert Allen Yeager

d. July 28, 2015

Hubert Allen Yeager Jr., 63, of Long Beach stepped into Jesus' arms Tuesday, July 28, 2015, in Gulfport after a brief illness.
Allen was born to Hubert A. Yeager Sr. and Yvonne Bramlett Yeager on Aug. 6, 1951 in Hattiesburg. When he was 2 years old, his family moved to Texas, where he attended elementary, junior high, and high school. At Ross Sterling High, he was active in French club, art and drama, painting all sets for school plays. He attended Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, TX, and Lonnie's Beauty School in Baytown, TX. After school and weekends, he worked in his dad's barbecue restaurant and meat market. In third grade, he met the girl, Andrea Wheaton, whom he would later marry, presenting her with her first box of Valentine chocolates. A grade-school crush? Not hardly. These two also were high school sweethearts who knew they had a special bond. They finally married 17 years after high school on Dec. 21, 1985, at Northside Assembly of God in St. Martin and recognized that their marriage was a gift from God.
Allen was a hairdresser for more than 40 years in Texas, Louisiana and Mississippi. He served on the Mississippi Hair Fashion Committee and was the salon manager at Gayfers Department Store and later Dillard's. Until his illness, he worked at Fusion Hair Salon in Gulfport. He attended Bridge Community Church in Woolmarket, ministered at marriage seminars, and was part of an intercessory prayer group in St. Martin. Previously, he had attended Coastland Christian Center, where he taught Sunday school; Pass Road Baptist Church, where he served as deacon; River of Life and First Assembly of God in Gulfport.
Allen was preceded in death by his grandparents, Alymer Bramlett and Elsie Bramlett Pittman; mother, Yvonne Bramlett Yeager; brother, Steven Harold Yeager and mother-in-law, Billy Leslie Wheaton.
He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Andrea Wheaton Yeager, the third-grade girlfriend and high school sweetheart; his pride and joys, daughter Elyssa Mae Yeager and granddaughter Lillian Grace Yeager, all of Long Beach; his father, Hubert A. Yeager Sr. of Gulfport; sister-in-law Ann Yeager of Gulfport; and uncle and his wife, Larry and Flora Reynolds of Cleveland, TX., and other cousins in Mississippi, Texas, New Mexico, Georgia and Alabama.
