Hazel Saucier Herrrington

December 4, 1938 — May 20, 2015

Hazel Saucier Herrington passed away at home on May 20, 2015, surrounded by her loving children and family. She was born in Gulfport on December 4, 1938 to Homer and Blanche Landrum Saucier and had an idyllic childhood in the Beulah community before graduating from Lyman High School. She was married the love of her life, the late Ira ""Sonny"" Herrington, for 42 years.
She is survived by her three children, Kimberly Herrington of Gulfport, Steve (Rhonda) Herrington, and Natasha (Gary) Herrington Dronet all of Biloxi along with her beloved grandchildren, Tara and Ira Herrington and Tyler, Tori, Avery and Rivers Dronet. Surviving her also are her siblings, Rita (Aaron) Lee, Harvey (Jean) Saucier, and Hugh (Pat) Saucier also of Gulfport.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Homer and Blanche Saucier; her husband, Sonny Herrington and siblings, Byron Saucier, Billy Jack Saucier, Beryl King, Patsy Boyd, and Travis Saucier.
She was known as a beautiful lady who always thought of others before herself and gave freely of her time and spirit to all she knew. As a life-long member of Gateway United Methodist Church, she was involved in feeding the needy, the Sunday school program and numerous other activities of the church. She was a loving soul who always had encouraging words and kindness to share with her family and friends and her Christian legacy of love will live on in all who knew her. Hazel also had a fun side serving as Queen of Les Cavaliers in the early 1980s. She and Sonny travelled extensively, entertained happily and never missed a party, a dance or a charity event! Their camp at Eagle Point was enjoyed and always busy with friends, children and neighbors joining every weekend for fun on the river. Sonny was devoted to her until the day he died always calling her ""Babe"". The simple beauty of their love was an inspiration to their children and friends.
