George Ellis Rishel, age 94, of Long Beach, passed away on Wednesday, October 28, 2015.
Mr. Rishel was born in Long Beach to Joseph W. and Emma A. Rishel. He was a retired machinist, working in Civil Service at the SeaBee Base. George was active in his community for over 25 years as a reserve police officer where he served as Chief of the Reserve. He spent his time with his family, immediate and extended. He and his wife Jean were longtime members of First United Methodist Church, Long Beach.
George enjoyed his watch repair hobby and was a noted firearm expert and instructor. He loved to hunt and shoot skeet, and was a regular at the local gun range.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Jean; his son, Brian and his wife Betty; and his sister, Ruby.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 1, 2015, at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 19130 Commission Road, Long Beach, from 3:30-5:30pm.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 2, 2015, at First United Methodist Church, Long Beach, at 2:00pm. Visitation will be held one hour prior in the church's Christian Life Center.
Burial will follow at Allen Cemetery.
