Doris Brady Burrus, age 89, of Gulfport, passed away on July 25, 2014.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene A. Burrus, her parents, Clarence and Theodosia Brady, and her siblings, T. R. Brady, Wallace Brady, Lloyd Brady, Emmett Brady, and Laura Pearl ""Sister"" Chaddick
Survivors include her children, Theresa Barlow, Fred (Donna) Dougherty, John (Rachel) Dougherty, Sargent (Debra) Burrus, and Douglas (Jenny) Burrus, a step-son, Eugene (Lorrie) Burrus, Jr., 9 grandchildren, Shelly Carden, Donnie Blackmon, Amy Dougherty Streetman, Alisa Dougherty Taylor, Clint McHugh, II, Nicholas McHugh, Jennifer Burrus DeVeronica, Russell Burrus, and Megan Burrus Richardson, 20 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
She was a lifelong resident of MS City and retired as telephone operator ""8"" from Civil Service at Keesler AFB. She was a devout member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and was a member of several organizations at the church. In her early years, she enjoyed riding her bicycle, crabbing, and spending time with her grandchildren.
The family wishes to thank Sr. Mary Kealy, PBVM, for her dedication and support over the years. Also, the family would like to express gratitude to Susan at Deaconess Hospice and Fr. Joe Uko for their kindness and compassion in the recent weeks.
Visitation will be Tuesday, July 29, 2014, from 12 noon until 1 pm at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Gulfport. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1 pm in the church. Burial will be in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens.
