Dartha "Jean" Alford Sweeden, age 81, graduated to heaven on Thursday, July 13, 2017 in Gulfport.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Julius and Oner Mae Floyd; husbands, James H. "Red" Alford and Chares Henry Sweeden; a daughter, Donna Alford; and her siblings, Tressie Wood, Peggy Ford, and Paul Floyd.
Jean is survived by her son, Jerry Holland Alford; daughters, Glenda (Joseph) Carmel, and Brenda (Philip) Guichet; brother-in-law, Sammy Wood; grandchildren, Michelle (Daniel) Guy, Michael Carmel, Chasity Dossett, Mark (Rashonda) Waldrop, David Waldrop, and Amanda White; great grandchildren, Jackson Guy, Kate Guy, Christian Lightner, Brenden Dossett, Kimberly (Josh) Barlow, Timothy Dossett, Amber White, Mariah Waldrop, McKayla Waldrop, and Maribeth Waldrop; great great grandchild due to be born in four weeks, Liam Barlow; and many nieces, nephews, church family, and friends.
Jean was a native of Forest, MS but has lived here on the coast for over 52 years. For many years she served for the Trucker's TEAM, Nursing Home, Prison, Publisher Parish, Chorus and Homeless Ministry's and was a member of Faith Baptist Church. Jean enjoyed gardening, soul winning, going to church, serving in the ministry, church fellowship, and was a vital part in getting out almost 5 million Gospel Tracks for the trucker's Ministry in multiple countries.
The family would like to thank family and friends for all your thoughts and prayers, and to the staff of ICU unit at Memorial Hospital for all their care.

The funeral service will be held on Monday, July 17, 2017 at 11:00AM, with a visitation beginning at 10:00AM, both at Faith Baptist Church, Canal Rd., Gulfport. Burial will follow in Gulf Pines Memorial Gardens. RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 19130 Commission Rd., Long Beach is serving the family.
