Bernice Stokes

Bernice Bailey Stokes, age 94, a resident of Gulfport, passed away quietly to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 2, 2017 in Gulfport.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rufus Stokes Jr.; her parents, Andrew Cleveland Bailey and Victoria Elizabeth Washburn Bailey; her brothers, David Cleveland "D.C." Bailey, Marshall Leon Bailey, John Daniel "J.D." Bailey, Roy Glen Bailey and Eli Washburn Bailey; and her sisters, Sarah Montel Bailey, Nellie J. Bailey Hill, and Irene Victoria Bailey Strickland.
Mrs. Stokes is survived her five children, Janice (Stokes) Bergdoll, Rufus Warren Stokes, Linda (Stokes) Pruitt, Nancy (Stokes) Wessler, and Danny Dale Stokes; her sister, Anne Bailey Davis, her eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, all of whom she loved very much.
She was a member of First Baptist Church of Gulfport, MS and had a great love of the Lord. Bernice was a great homemaker and loving mother who enjoyed cooking, gardening, and crocheting. She always had a love and zest for life and loved everyone and everyone loved her.
Visitation for friends will be on Sunday, July 9, 2017 from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11280 Three Rivers Road, Gulfport. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, July 10, 2017 in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens.
